Saturday morning talk at y Gaer

  • Brecknock Society and Museum Friends c/o Brecknock Museum, Captain’s Walk Brecon, Wales, LD3 7DS United Kingdom (map)

The women behind Gwellian’s portrait

Carla Rapoport will tell the story of the women behind the Gwenllian Morgan portrait.

Who were the 912 local women who, in 1912, signed and donated to a subscription to honour Wales’ first woman mayor, Gwenllian Morgan?

How do you research someone’s life with only their married name and the street they lived on? Through a range of digital tools, this unique record of women’s names is starting to open doors on lives previously all but hidden from view.

Join us to discover how the Gwenllian Morgan Project, launched by two BS&MF members under the auspices of Brecon Story Network, is accomplishing this. You’ll be amazed to hear what they and a small team of volunteers have uncovered so far!

This talk will be held in the Beacons Room
