Members recently enjoyed a walking tour of the grounds and parkland at Penpont, led by Jonathan Williams, who explained how the aesthetic tastes and agricultural practices of the 18th and 19th centuries have left their mark on the landscape.

The 2024 Sir John Lloyd Lecture was given by Dr Ben Guy , University of Cambridge. The subject of his insightful lecture was “Brychan Fact and Fiction”.
Society President speaks at major conference
The Cambrian Archaeological Association held a conference in Brecon over the weekend of 22 - 24 September 2023. Our President, Nigel Clubb, gave a lecture on the Buildings and Monuments of Brecon which covered its topography, the principal medieval buildings of the town.
David Jones poetry and harp concert
The Brecknock Society organised a special poetry and harp concert at Llansantffraed Church on 16th July 2023 on the writings of artist and poet David Jones to accompany the major exhibition of his artwork on display at y Gaer, Brecon.
Annual Henry Vaughan memorial event
Llansantffraed Church and the Brecknock Society hosted a memorial event on 23rd April 2023 to celebrate the 328th anniversary of the death of Henry Vaughan, the internationally renowned Breconshire poet.
